The NP Tracker project started in 2014 to aid the crime fighting communities around South Africa (later grew to include all SADC countries) in sharing vehicle lookout reports.
It is an own funded/developed project created and maintained by Eduard Stander and are free to use by any user on the supported platforms - Telegram and Wechat.
More information can be found on our website http://www.nptracker.co.za.
The NPS-ANPR project grew out of a need to have an affordable LRP system made available to the crime fighting communities around South Africa and neighbouring countries.
While developing and evaluating a suitable ANPR solution we decided to build our platform on an open source community supported software package and a low-cost processor PC board.
We fully integrated our LRP system with the NP Tracker database and NPS Cloud ANPR management system for south african conditions.
The setup and configuration for the NPS-ANPR were optimised to require a minimum effort from the end user for a successful installation and commissioning of the LRP.
The user has to setup an internet Connection this can be accomplished by either a WIFI connection or an Ethernet connection to the internet.
Secondly the user have to Authenticate the NPS-ANPR to the NPS-CLOUD service by entering a access token.
This is needed to communicate to the NPS-CLOUD servers only a small amount of data is send to the cloud servers for each plate detected.
Connection to the internet
Scan and select a nearby WIFI Connection.
Select and configure the network connection and type to use to connect to the internet (If in doubth ask your network administrator).
Each NPS-ANPR is authenticated to the NPS-COUD servers by a unique access token (Available at https://www.npscloud.co.za ANPR Cameras -> Add)
User configurable installation and detection settings
To speed-up number plate detection a MASK file per cammera installation should be considered. (Optional)
"Live view" of camera for installation and optimisation
